Stop Doomscrolling. Start Squishing.

Designed specifically for waiting rooms, long commutes, and stealthy Zoom calls, Jump is a completely silent, zero-stakes fidget game built to take your mind off things. Forget clock watching and counting ceiling tiles; give your hands something better to do.

The Biologist's Design As a biologist turned game developer, I intentionally designed this game to be a low-stress, pressure-free environment. There is no health bar, no timer, and you cannot die. If your name gets called in the waiting room, just set your phone down. There is no penalty for walking away. The game will quietly keep running, and when you come back 10 minutes later, you'll just have a larger pile of goo waiting for you to squish!

Features:

  • 100 Levels to Win: Each level takes about 2 minutes to clear. Save your high score and try to beat your total squished goo count!
  • Completely Silent: No music, no sound effects, no jump scares. Play it anywhere, anytime, without headphones or bothering the person next to you.
  • Stealthy Controls: Mobile touch controls for your phone, or use just 3 keys (Left, Right, Space) on your laptop. If you play in a browser during a video call, it just looks like you're reading a document!
  • Zero Internet Required: Built with a "local-first" philosophy, this game doesn't need to connect to servers or drain your battery, but it also runs here on itch online in a browser if you prefer.

Jump is 100% free to play here or download and donate. If it helps you survive a boring waiting room, donations are always appreciated! Install PWA from https://quasipenguin.github.io/Jump/ for FREE LOCAL INSTALL.

AI & Development Disclosure

In the spirit of transparency and ethical development, here is exactly how this game was made:

Hand-Drawn & Open Source Art

  • All of the core game sprites(the player, the goo, the holes, the platforms, and the floor)are completely original assets hand-drawn by me using the open-source software GIMP.
  • The foundational background art is also a hand-drawn original piece.

AI-Iterated Backgrounds

  • To keep the 100 levels visually interesting without bloating the game size, I used AI image generation to iterate on my original hand-drawn background, creating 101 distinct stylistic variations for the level progression.
  • (Note: If you download the game files, you will find my original hand-drawn background art, plus two exclusive bonus backgrounds that aren't visible during normal gameplay, waiting for you in the assets folder!)

AI-Assisted Code

  • Jump was built using a "human-in-the-loop" programming approach. I acted as the architect, and utilized AI to help write and iterate the Vanilla JavaScript, HTML5, and JSON manifest.
  • The game was iterated, debugged, and tested by me throughout development.
  • This is my first project and I am a self-taught solo developer.
